This is my 3rd copy since I yidddish this book to many friends, both Jewish and non-Jewish individuals since so many words of Yiddish have entered the English vocabulary. Ever in tension with the market place, the street, and several other languages, Yiddish matured in a competitive linguistic environment, coming fully into its own only in the middle of the 19th century. Sometimes the stories seem slightly irrelevant to the word entry, which just increases the delightfulness of the book.
This is the third copy of this book I have bought.
